8 Hair and Body Uses for Castile Soap

Castile Soap is an olive oil based soap that originated in the Castile region of Spain. Now it is used all over the world, with varying formulations ranging from 100% olive oil, to mixtures containing olive, coconut, hemp, and jojoba oils.

However, the main ingredient that stays consistent is olive oil. It’s a powerful, fatty oil that provides moisture as it cleans. (Hint hint like our Liquid Castile Soap).

Castile soap has many uses from washing your body and hair, to cleansing things around the house (including your pets!)

There are so many great uses for castile soap, however, for this list we’ve only included ways you can use the soap on your body and hair.

Liquid Castile Soap As A Shower Gel

Using Castile Soap as a shower gel (or shower soap) is very common. This is because with a good loofah, your castile soap will foam up nicely, making shower time luxurious. The natural cleansing properties combined with essential oils or fun perfume oils (like Grapefruit Neroli or Lemongrass Peppermint) making showering with castile soap a refreshing experience!

DIY Liquid Castile Body Soak

Naturally, the suds factor of castile soap is low, since there aren’t any added chemicals to make the soap bubble up. So when adding to a bath, liquid castile soap won’t bubble. However, you’ll still add the natural moisturizing qualities to your bath water, with an extra dose of natural cleaning agents. Plus, if you choose a liquid castile soap fragrances like Lemongrass Peppermint or Lavender, it will make your bath time more relaxing and therapeutic.

Using Liquid Castile Soap As A Shaving Cream

The third use for castile soap is as a shaving “cream”. When in the shower or tub, you can suds up your loofah with liquid castile soap and use this foam when shaving your legs, underarm area, or bikini line.

Castile Hand Soap

Another great use for castile soap is as a hand soap, especially in your bathroom or kitchen. Our liquid castile soaps are bottled with pumps, that way it’s easier to use around the house (especially when guests and visitors are concerned!). And with essential oils like Lemongrass Peppermint, or even fun fragrances like Lavender, washing your hands with liquid castile soap becomes fun!

Gentle Castile Soap Face Wash

Liquid castile soap can be used on the face for a daily skincare routine, or even to remove makeup (including those pesky lip stains!). However, for those with sensitive skin conditions (eczema, dry skin, irritated skin from acne), we would suggest diluting your liquid castile soap and testing to see if your face enjoys the experience. You could also try Castile Soap based face cleansers formulated to gently cleanse and nourish the face.

Liquid Castile Soap Makeup Brush Cleaner

Ok, technically not a *direct* application to the skin. However, makeup brushes collect bacteria daily AND when applying makeup, those same germs transfer to the skin. So,  it’s great to know that you can use your liquid castile soap to cleanse your makeup brushes! Use soap formulations with cleansing essential oils like Lemongrass Peppermint to keep your brushes healthy and smelling cleaning. (P.S. you should be cleaning your makeup brushes every 5-7 days, don’t skimp out!)

Cleaning Beauty Blender Sponge With Liquid Castile Soap

Just like with the makeup brushes, liquid castile soap is great for cleaning beauty blenders. In fact, you can see us cleaning ou beauty blender in less than 5 minutes here: https://www.instagram.com/p/B3S0POUl2a8/

Liquid Castile Soap As A Shampoo

Last, but not least, cleansing your hair and scalp is another great use for castile soap. Because the soap is based around moisturizing oils, it’s a great alternative for keeping your hair clean. And guess what? There are no sulfates! So this is a perfect option for a sulfate-free shampoo. However, liquid castile soap can still be a strong cleanser, so don’t be afraid to dilute your liquid castile soap before applying to your scalp and hair.
